  • Year 3/4 Open Football

    Published 30/09/25

Our first sports competition of the year kicked off last night on the astro at Robert Sutton with year 3 & 4 open football.

18 children took part, showcasing a real range of skills and experience, with some of our players being members of local football teams and others never having played any football before!

Sadly, neither of the two teams progressed to the semi-final stage of the competition, but they played hard and scored some terrific goals, including a hat trick from one of our year 3s!

Well done to all - hopefully this will be one of many times representing school and wearing Edge Hill kit with pride!

  • East Side Art Competition

    Published 29/09/25

We are so proud to announce that 13 of our pupils were shortlisted for this year's East Side Arts calendar competition plus six of last year's Y6 who entered back in the summer term! On Saturday, Ms Barnard and the children met at the Brewhouse in Burton to see their fantastic artwork exhibited and to find out which pieces had been selected for next year's community calendar. The theme was 'peace and unity' which inspired some truly beautiful and thought-provoking art. We heard from the Deputy Mayor of East Staffs, Monica Holton, and local artist Joe Fox, who judged the entries. Huge congratulations to all our talented artists: Pippa H-J, Myla P,  Gracie F, Sonia A, Alya S, Isabelle L, Reece C, Paige W, and Kianah K and winners Orla L, Maja W, Holly H and Sophia E. What an incredible achievement for every single one of these artists - one to be proud of forever!

This week, our school council spoke about 'Time to Talk Day' on February 6th which draws attention to mental health and the importance of reaching out to others. The children completed a presentation (attached) and spoke about the importance of people opening up and being honest about mental health, without the fear and stigma often attached to the topic. The council have offered up two of their lunch times to listen to others and to support one another based around friendship. Thank you Ms Grimley and our school council for this.
