Dear Parents and carers

Edge Hill Academy Year 3 Admissions September 2020

I am delighted to welcome you and your child to Edge Hill Academy and look forward to meeting you all.

As a school, we have had to adapt rapidly over the past few weeks and we are currently only open to year 6 children, vulnerable pupils and children of key workers.

It is definitely an unusual and challenging time at the moment, and we know you and your child might be feeling worried about the transition into Year 3 this September and we want to reassure you that we’re here for you every step of the way.

In order to follow the government's guidelines on social distancing, we've had to adjust our arrangements for supporting this year’s transition. However, we hope the activities that we’ve planned will help put your child (and you!) at ease and get them feeling as excited as we are for the new school year.

We have already been working very closely with the staff at Violet Way planning the transition programme and what we can do to support you all. Of course things may change depending on Government advice but if they do we will notify you as soon as possible.

However at present we have arranged the following activities

  • Y3 staff are working with Y2 staff to provide a remote learning project.
  • Mrs Harbett has met with staff at Violet Way to discuss transition for vulnerable children and parents of these children will be notified individually of arrangements.
  • Your child’s new class teacher at Edge Hill will send them a letter via email and we will then ask each child to reply to their new teacher as part of their home learning using and return this using the designated email address:  curriculumsupport3@edgehill.staffs.sch.uk.
  • We have set up a Year 2 to Year 3 transition page on the school website at: https://www.edgehilljuniorschool.co.uk/year-2-year-3-transition-june-2020/
  • The web page will include a Virtual Tour of Edge Hill and will be regularly updated with information as soon as it is available.

We are also provisionally arranging a parents’ meetings for each class on the following dates. We plan to hold a meeting each night for one class at a time. This will be limited to one parent per family. You will know the date of the meeting that you are invited to attend when the class teacher sends their letter and I will send out further information in due course.

Thursday 9th July at 6.00pm                           3B        Ms Barnard  (altered 26.6.20)

Tuesday 7th July at 6.00pm                              3J        Miss Jackson

Wednesday 8th July at 6.00pm                         3OR      Mrs O’Neill and Ms Robinson

Of course if you are unable to attend your meeting we can make alternative arrangements by contacting school on 01283247440 or email at: admin@edgehill.staffs.sch.uk.

This is an exciting time for the children, although some can be anxious about starting a new school, particularly in the current situation.  I assure you that we will do all we can to make the transition as smooth as possible.

In the meantime if you have any concerns or problems please do not hesitate to contact school.

Kind regards and take care

MMander
